The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is a signaling protocol, widely used in communication sessions such as voice calls over Internet.
Although the native VoIP protocol used in PC-Telephone is better than SIP, PC-Telephone supports SIP for interoperability reasons.
In this way any SIP trunking telephony device and SoftPhone can communicate with the PC-Telephone software and vice versa.
You can use any mobile phone SIP dialer to make cheap International PC-Telephone calls over WiFi or 3G mobile VoIP.
